According to a report by The Chelsea Chronicle on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, Chelsea's Under-19 side have been knocked out of the UEFA Youth League after suffering a disappointing 3-2 home defeat to Estonian club Flora Tallinn at Cobham.
The Blues twice took the lead but were unable to maintain their advantage, bringing their European campaign to an unexpected end.
Mathis Eboue gave Chelsea an early lead before Flora responded through Sander Alamaa, who capitalised on a defensive error to bring the visitors level.
Chelsea regained the advantage shortly after the restart when substitute Ibrahim Rabbaj scored less than two minutes into the second half. Eboue provided the assist, giving the hosts renewed hope of securing a victory.
However, Flora refused to surrender and found another equaliser through Marten Kukkonen after Chelsea failed to deal with a throw in.
The visitors then completed their comeback when Alamaa converted a penalty. The spot-kick was awarded after Chelsea captain Tayo Subuloye fouled Denis Zotov inside the penalty area.
Alamaa's successful effort completed his hat trick and secured a memorable 3-2 victory for the Estonian side.
Chelsea's defeat was particularly disappointing given the quality of players available to the academy team. Mahdi Nicoll Jazuli and Reggie Watson both started the match, while Subuloye featured after recently training with Xabi Alonso's senior squad.
Alonso, first-team midfielder Cole Palmer and former Chelsea captain John Terry were also reportedly present at Cobham to watch the academy prospects.
The result represents a significant setback for Chelsea, who entered the competition hoping to make a strong impression. The club won the Under-18 Premier League title last season and have previously lifted the UEFA Youth League trophy twice.
Their early elimination will be disappointing for the academy, especially with several young players hoping to use the competition to demonstrate their readiness for senior football.
For Flora Tallinn, meanwhile, the victory represents an important achievement and a memorable European result. Chelsea must now shift their attention towards domestic youth competitions after their hopes of progressing further in Europe were ended.
