Manchester United have stepped up their pursuit of Como centre-back Jacobo Ramón as they consider strengthening their defensive options in an upcoming transfer window. According to a report by Sports Mole on Thursday, November 5, 2026, the 21-year-old Spaniard has become a prominent target for the Premier League club following his impressive performances in Italy.
United’s interest reportedly increased after Ramón delivered a notable display against them in the Champions League in October. The defender caught the attention of the English side by scoring against them with a well-timed header. He made an unchallenged run into the penalty area before connecting with the delivery, demonstrating his ability to contribute at the attacking end despite his primary defensive responsibilities.
Ramón currently represents Como in Serie A and has attracted growing attention because of his performances this season. Transfermarkt places his estimated market value at approximately £38 million. However, United may have to offer a higher fee if they decide to make a formal attempt to bring him to Old Trafford.
The Spanish defender has already established himself as an important member of Como’s squad. He has featured in 10 Serie A matches this season, starting eight of those encounters. His contribution has also extended beyond defensive duties, with two goals recorded despite playing in the centre of defence.
His passing statistics further demonstrate his composure and ability to contribute to Como’s build-up play. Ramón averages 65 successful passes per match and has maintained an impressive passing accuracy of 92 per cent. Those figures suggest he is comfortable distributing possession and helping his team progress the ball from defensive areas.
Defensively, the youngster has also produced encouraging numbers, winning 67 per cent of the duels he has contested. His ability to compete effectively in individual battles, combined with his passing quality and goal threat, makes him an appealing prospect for clubs looking to strengthen their back line.
United’s reported pursuit comes as the club continues to face questions about its defensive reliability. The Red Devils have conceded at least two goals in five Premier League fixtures, raising concerns about their ability to prevent opponents from creating and converting opportunities.
Several members of the defensive unit have also come under criticism following their performances. Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire and Diogo Dalot are among those who have faced scrutiny, while uncertainty has also surrounded Lisandro Martínez’s contribution to the back line.
These concerns could encourage United to explore the transfer market for younger defensive reinforcements. Ramón’s age, experience in Italian football and encouraging statistical record could make him a suitable candidate as the club assesses its long-term options.
Although his reported valuation provides an indication of his potential cost, securing his services may require a substantial financial commitment. United will need to determine whether Como are willing to negotiate and how much they would demand for a player who has attracted interest through his performances.
For now, Ramón remains a reported target, with no confirmed agreement between the clubs. Nevertheless, United’s increased scouting attention suggests the Spanish defender is firmly on their radar as they consider ways to improve their defensive strength.
