According to a report by GOAL on Sunday, October 18, 2026, Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo has sent a confident message ahead of the club’s upcoming matches against Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid after ending his scoring drought in Saturday’s 5-2 victory over Real Betis in La Liga.
The Spain international scored as Hansi Flick’s side extended their winning run in the league to nine consecutive matches. Barcelona also showcased their attacking strength, with five different players finding the net in an impressive performance.
Olmo had gone several matches without scoring, but his goal against Betis provided a timely boost ahead of an important week for the Catalan club. Despite ending his drought, the midfielder insisted that individual achievements were less important to him than the team’s results.
“I’m very happy to keep scoring goals and providing assists. I’m happy to keep contributing to the team. I hadn’t scored for a while, but that didn’t matter to me,” Olmo told Barcelona’s official website.
“I just wanted the team to win, and that’s what we were doing. I’m happy, but because the team won and we got the three points.”
Barcelona now face two major challenges, starting with a Champions League encounter against reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday. The Catalan giants will then host their arch-rivals Real Madrid in the first El Clasico of the domestic campaign next Sunday.
Olmo acknowledged the importance of the upcoming matches, expressing confidence in Barcelona’s readiness to face both sides.
“We’re all happy and ready for the week ahead. We’re going to play against the Champions League holders and our biggest rivals. We’re motivated,” he added.
The two fixtures could have a significant impact on Barcelona’s season as they seek to maintain their strong form in Europe and strengthen their position in the La Liga title race.
