11 Barcelona Players Report for Voluntary Training Ahead of Real Madrid Clash

Several Barcelona players, including Lamine Yamal, Pedri and Fermin Lopez, reported for voluntary training despite being given a day off by head coach Hansi Flick ahead of Sunday’s highly anticipated El Clasico against Real Madrid. Their decision reflects the squad’s determination to prepare thoroughly for the crucial encounter, while injured teammates continued working on their rehabilitation at the club’s training complex.

Reports indicate that approximately 11 Barcelona players visited the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper to maintain their fitness and improve their readiness for the showdown. The additional session came after a demanding trip to Paris, where the Catalan giants faced Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Barcelona returned from the French capital at around 3:30 am on Wednesday before completing a recovery session later that day. Given the demanding schedule and limited recovery time, Flick subsequently allowed his players to rest before resuming preparations for their meeting with their fiercest rivals.

However, several members of the squad chose to use the break to continue their individual work. Yamal, Pedri, Fermin and young defender Xavi Espart were among those who attended the training ground, demonstrating their commitment to maintaining their physical condition ahead of the important fixture.

Gerard Martin and goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny also took advantage of the opportunity to train. Szczesny’s attendance was particularly noteworthy because of his limited involvement in matches this season. Nevertheless, the experienced Polish goalkeeper remains focused on staying prepared in case Flick requires his services.

While some players concentrated on their fitness, others continued their recovery programmes as they work towards returning to full availability. Roony Bardghji, Andreas Christensen, Eric Garcia and Dani Olmo were among the injured players undergoing rehabilitation at the club’s facilities.

Jules Kounde was also present as he attempts to regain fitness before the weekend’s showdown. However, the French defender remains a doubt for the encounter, and his participation in rehabilitation work does not necessarily mean he will be cleared to feature against Real Madrid.

With just two collective training sessions remaining before El Clasico, Barcelona’s coaching staff face the challenge of balancing tactical preparation with the need to avoid overworking players following their demanding European assignment. Flick must ensure his team is physically prepared while also refining the strategy required to compete against their biggest rivals.

Barcelona will approach the contest eager to respond after suffering their first defeat of the season. Regaining momentum and restoring confidence will be important objectives as they prepare for one of the most closely watched fixtures in world football.

The decision by several players to train voluntarily offers an encouraging sign of their determination and professionalism. Their commitment could prove valuable as Barcelona seek to deliver a strong performance and secure a positive result against Real Madrid on Sunday.
