Manchester United are reportedly keeping tabs on Crystal Palace winger Ismaila Sarr ahead of the January transfer window, with the Old Trafford club also interested in signing his teammate Jean-Philippe Mateta.
Sarr is weighing up a contract extension offered by Palace, although the Senegal international has yet to commit to a new deal. His representatives are reportedly satisfied with the proposed terms, leaving the player to decide whether to extend his stay at Selhurst Park.
The 28-year-old considered leaving Palace during the summer after attracting interest from Turkish giants Galatasaray. However, the Eagles refused to sanction his departure and subsequently reintegrated him into their first-team plans.
Despite returning to the squad, uncertainty remains over Sarr’s long-term future. Palace are eager to secure his services beyond his current agreement, but his decision could have significant implications for their plans heading into 2027.
Manchester United are among several clubs monitoring the situation, alongside Sunderland and Newcastle United. Galatasaray remain interested, while Saudi Pro League sides are also reportedly tracking developments.
The interest from multiple destinations gives Sarr several options to consider as he evaluates his future. He must weigh the opportunities available elsewhere against the prospect of signing a new contract with Palace.
United reportedly view the winger as a versatile attacking option who can operate in central areas or on either side of the forward line. His ability to perform in different positions could appeal to the club as they assess ways to strengthen their attack during the January window.
Sarr has also demonstrated his ability to play centrally, having occupied that role for Senegal during the World Cup finals.
Meanwhile, Mateta has emerged as another Palace attacker on United’s radar. Interest in both players could create a difficult situation for the Eagles if the Manchester club pursues either target when the transfer window opens.
For now, Sarr must decide whether to accept Palace’s extension offer. With his representatives reportedly satisfied with the proposal, the club will hope to reach an agreement and reduce uncertainty surrounding his future.
