According to a report by Madrid Universal on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, Jose Mourinho immediately turned his attention to Real Madrid’s next fixture after leading his team to a 2-1 victory over Barcelona in Sunday’s El Clasico at Spotify Camp Nou.
According to journalist Ben Fernandes Santos, via RM4Arab, Mourinho and his coaching staff began reviewing the match during their return flight to Madrid, analysing the team’s performance and identifying areas that required improvement.
Despite the significance of the victory, the Portuguese manager is determined to ensure his players do not become complacent as they continue their La Liga title campaign.
Mourinho has already shifted his focus to the upcoming encounter with Racing Santander, stressing that the win against Barcelona will mean little if his side cannot maintain their momentum in the matches ahead.
“If we win today and lose at El Sardinero, today’s victory doesn’t hold the same weight, because Real Madrid doesn’t play to win at Camp Nou. Real Madrid plays to win championships,” Mourinho said after the Clasico.
The 2-1 victory was a significant result for Los Blancos, who moved to within three points of their rivals in the league standings.
Madrid impressed with their defensive organisation and ability to overcome Barcelona’s pressing through intelligent midfield combinations. However, Mourinho’s side also endured a challenging period in the second half as the hosts regained control and became increasingly threatening.
The reported analysis during the flight highlights the high standards Mourinho is seeking to establish during his second spell at the club.
The former Chelsea and Manchester United manager is renowned for his detailed preparation, with his coaching staff reportedly beginning work on upcoming fixtures immediately after matches.
He has also demonstrated a willingness to make tactical adjustments, including changes to his midfield combinations and the deployment of Federico Valverde at right-back.
