According to a report by Metro on Saturday, October 31, 2026, former England striker Alan Shearer has backed Chelsea to defeat Manchester United and predicted a draw between Liverpool and Arsenal in this weekend's Premier League fixtures.
Shearer has shared his predictions for the latest round of matches, which includes several important encounters involving clubs competing for European qualification and fighting to avoid relegation.
Chelsea will host Manchester United at Stamford Bridge, with Michael Carrick facing increasing pressure following the club's disappointing run of results.
United are without a victory in their last eight matches, leaving their manager under pressure ahead of the difficult trip to west London.
Despite Chelsea's defensive problems and their disappointing 2-0 defeat to Tottenham last weekend, Shearer believes the Blues have enough quality to secure all three points.
"I’ve seen nothing to suggest that Man United can turn things around and for that reason I’m just going to say home win," Shearer said.
The former Newcastle United striker added that another disappointing result could increase the pressure on Carrick, while a victory would provide United with a significant confidence boost.
Shearer also expects Liverpool and Arsenal to share the points when they meet at Anfield on Sunday.
Arsenal will be hoping to respond after their Carabao Cup disappointment, while Liverpool head into the encounter with positive momentum. However, Shearer believes a draw could be a reasonable outcome for both sides.
"I think I’m going to go for a score draw," he said.
The former England international also predicted home victories for Bournemouth against Leeds United, Brentford against Nottingham Forest, Manchester City against Brighton, Tottenham against Crystal Palace, Aston Villa against Fulham and Newcastle United against Everton.
Meanwhile, he expects Coventry City and Sunderland to play out a draw, while Hull City and Ipswich Town could also share the points.
Shearer's predictions for the weekend's Premier League fixtures are:
Chelsea to beat Manchester United
Bournemouth to beat Leeds United
Brentford to beat Nottingham Forest
Coventry City and Sunderland to draw
Hull City and Ipswich Town to draw
Manchester City to beat Brighton
Tottenham to beat Crystal Palace
Aston Villa to beat Fulham
Liverpool and Arsenal to draw
Newcastle United to beat Everton.
