LaLiga Table After Barcelona Lost 2-1

According to a report by BBC Sports on Sunday, October 25, 2026, Barcelona suffered their first defeat of the 2026/2027 Spanish La Liga season after losing 2-1 to Real Madrid in an exciting El Clasico encounter at the Spotify Camp Nou.

The defeat ended Barcelona’s impressive nine-match winning streak and allowed Real Madrid to reduce the gap between the two Spanish giants to just three points.

Kylian Mbappe was the standout performer for Real Madrid, scoring twice to help Jose Mourinho’s side secure a crucial victory over their biggest domestic rivals.

The French international opened the scoring in the 41st minute after a dangerous attacking move saw the ball deflect off him and find its way into Barcelona’s net.

Barcelona returned for the second half determined to overturn the deficit, with Hansi Flick’s players increasing their attacking pressure in search of an equaliser.

Their efforts paid off in the 61st minute when Raphinha scored following an intelligent pass from Pedri. The Brazilian winger controlled the ball inside Real Madrid’s penalty area before producing an impressive finish to bring Barcelona level.

However, Real Madrid continued pushing for a winner rather than settling for a draw. Their persistence paid off in the closing stages when Eduardo Camavinga supplied an important pass for Mbappe, who finished from close range to restore Madrid’s lead.

Barcelona tried to respond during the remaining minutes, but Real Madrid held firm to protect their advantage and secure all three points.

Despite the defeat, Barcelona remain top of the La Liga standings with 27 points from 10 matches, having recorded nine victories and one loss.

Atletico Madrid occupy second place with 25 points from 10 games, just two points behind the Catalan giants. Real Madrid have climbed to third with 24 points after recording their eighth victory of the campaign, leaving them three points behind Barcelona and one behind Atletico.

Real Betis sit fourth with 20 points from 10 matches, while Real Sociedad complete the top five with 19 points.

Sevilla occupy sixth place with 14 points from nine matches and have an opportunity to improve their position with a game in hand. Alaves are seventh with 12 points, while Athletic Bilbao, Celta Vigo and Villarreal also have 12 points.

At the bottom of the table, Malaga remain in 20th place with five points, while Valencia occupy 19th with six points. Espanyol are 18th with eight points, leaving them in the relegation zone after 10 league matches.

Barcelona’s defeat has intensified the competition at the top of the table, with only three points separating the leading three teams. Although Flick’s side remain in first place, their advantage has narrowed following Real Madrid’s victory.

Atletico Madrid are also firmly involved in the title race, while Real Madrid will look to build on their El Clasico success and maintain pressure on their rivals.

Barcelona will aim to return to winning ways when they face Alaves in their next La Liga fixture on October 31. Meanwhile, Real Madrid will travel to face Racing Santander on November 1 as they seek another important victory.

With the title race becoming increasingly competitive, Barcelona will be eager to avoid further setbacks as they attempt to maintain their position at the top of the standings.

The top five after Sunday’s matches are Barcelona with 27 points, Atletico Madrid with 25, Real Madrid with 24, Real Betis with 20 and Real Sociedad with 19.
