Amorim doubles down on Salzburg performance stance amid strive for ‘consistency’ in ‘small details’

AC Milan head coach Ruben Amorim has urged his side to remain consistent when it comes to doing the small things right in games.

Milan are taking on an Atalanta side who have also won three of their first six Serie A games under Maurizio Sarri, but the difference is that they have lost the other three whereas Amorim’s men have drawn theirs.

Amorim made a number of changes for the game against Red Bull Salzburg in midweek and it yielded the ideal result, with the Rossoneri running out 4-0 winners. The hat-trick hero Alphadjo Cisse has not kept his place though, as the head coach has made seven alterations again.

Speaking to Sky before the game, the former Manchester United and Sporting CP boss spoke about some of his selection decisions and the importance of continuing Thursday’s good work. MilanNews relayed his words.

Can the Salzburg performance be replicated, in terms of the courage and the end result?

“Once again, as I said, we played better games than Salzburg. Of course, we scored a lot of goals there, but overall we’re improving as a team. After Sassuolo, we now need to find consistency in the small details, in the little things, so consistency helps us win more games.”

Is the idea to help Modric by picking Rabiot?

“In every match, to defend better but also attack better, we have an idea of the spaces where the players should position themselves based on their characteristics, so this is the best eleven for this match.”

Can you take that significant leap in the table?

“Every match is absolutely important. We want to win tonight, but also the next one: regardless of today’s result, we want and must win them.”
