As confirmed by the Breisgau club earlier this evening, Lukas Kübler will remain with SC Freiburg beyond next summer.

The club has officially announced via social media that one of it's longest serving players has extended his expiring contract.

Kübler, now 34-years-old, has been with the club since 2015 and has made 247 competitive appearances for the Bundesliga side.

Having already played over 293 minutes in all competitions this season, it's clear Julian Schuster still values the full-back highly.

“You can absolutely rely on Kübi when it comes to his sporting performance,” said sporting director Klemens Hartenbach about Kübler.

"He brings total passion and identification to the team every day. He either plays himself or he pushes his teammates.

“We are delighted to continue our journey with a massive cornerstone of our team,” Hartenbach added after the extension was confirmed.
