The first unofficial Test between New Zealand A and India A will be played at the Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln. The venue will also host the third and final game of the series, starting November 7, while Hagley Oval in Christchurch will host the second unofficial Test, which begins from October 31. All 12 days of the three four-dayers are scheduled to start at 11am local time (3:30am IST, 11pm UK time - previous day).

Several India Test regulars - Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Devdutt Padikkal, Washington Sundar and Akash Deep - have been picked in the A squad to prepare for the senior men's Test series to follow.

As for New Zealand A, 19 players have been named in the squad, including 11 Black Caps. The NZC have also announced 13-member squads for each of the three unofficial Tests. The remaining members, during each match, will participate in the Ford Trophy, New Zealand's premier domestic 50-over competition. Rhys Mariu will lead New Zealand A in the first two matches while the captain for the last Test is yet to be named.
