Trailing by 17 points midway through the second quarter, all signs pointed toward the Golden State Warriors' four game win streak coming to an end by the way of the Phoenix Suns. However, with a 25-point comeback against the Los Angeles Lakers already under their belt, the Warriors can't be counted out.
Led by Steph Curry and Brandin Podziemski, the Warriors began chipping away at the Suns' early lead. In the third quarter, the Warriors tallied 42 points to erase the Phoenix advantage and tie the game at 93. In the fourth quarter, Curry battled Jalen Green with each scoring seven points. Down the stretch, Curry buried a handful of free throws to push the Warriors in front of the Suns, completing the comeback and securing a 116-113 win.
With their fifth straight win, the Warriors tied the San Antonio Spurs for the current longest winning streak in the NBA.
Curry scored a game-high 34 points on 9-of-21 shooting from the field with five made 3-pointer sto go along with seven assists and six rebounds in 33 minutes. Curry has now notched 31 or more points in three straight games.
Along with Curry, four other members of the Warriors tallied double-figures in scoring, including rookie Yaxel Lendeborg and Podziemski.
After a confrontation with Khaman Maluach and Dillon Brooks, Draymond Green was ejected from the game with 10 minutes remaining in the third quarter. Without Green, Charles Bassey stepped up off the bench. The veteran big man recorded 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field with eight boards and an assist in 23 minutes off the bench.
After a back-to-back, the Warriors will get Tuesday and Wednesday off before hosting the Miami Heat on Thursday night at Chase Center.
