Golden State Valkyries guard Tiffany Hayes exits WNBA Finals after falling on face

Golden State Valkyries guard Tiffany Hayes was injured against the Atlanta Dream in Game 1 of the WNBA Finals on Saturday, Oct. 17.

SAN FRANCISCO ― Golden State Valkyries guard Tiffany Hayes took a hard fall and exited Game 1 of the WNBA Finals against the Atlanta Dream with an apparent injury.

Hayes nearly came up with a steal in the fourth quarter with about 2 minutes, 38 seconds left in the game when she dove for a loose ball, narrowly missing, instead faceplanting on the hardwood.

Hayes stayed down on the ground for a few minutes before the Valkyries medical staff and coaches came to the middle of the floor to tend to their veteran guard.

She was eventually helped up and she walked to the locker room on her own merit with medical staff and trainers following closely behind.

Hayes scored 3 points in 24 minutes of playing time shooting 1-for-12. She added six rebounds and four assists before leaving the game.

The Valkyries did not immediately have an update on Hayes following her exit.
