Koumas ‘really happy’ with first senior Liverpool goal
LINZ, AUSTRIA - OCTOBER 14: Lewis Koumas of Liverpool celebrates after scoring their team's sixth goal during the UEFA Champions League 2026/27 League Phase MD2 match between LASK and Liverpool FC at Oberösterreich Arena on October 14, 2026 in Linz, Austria. Lewis Koumas commented on a big night for two Liverpool attackers in a 6-3 victory over LASK.

The Reds responded to a 3-0 loss to Manchester City at Anfield with a rampant attacking display in Austria, sustaining their 100% winning record in the Champions League as the forwards turned up.

‘It's nice to get a goal in this competition’

Koumas completed the scoring for the visitors on the evening through a finish from close range. The goal came days after he earned his first Premier League start, and he was elated with the moment.

“It's a good win but ultimately [it was about] the reaction from the last game to try and bounce back. I thought we did that well and we need to try and take that into the weekend now.

“It's nice to get a goal in this competition - the highest level of football. I'm really happy.

“Jérémie has got it out of his feet and crossed and it's taken a bounce. I've just focused on the contact and getting it on target. I've done that and it's gone through his [the goalkeeper’s] legs.

“[In my mind] was just that I've realised I've scored in the Champions League. It was pretty crazy! I've just run off and spent the moment with them [the fans].

“I think it's important as a striker... you can't dwell on the misses or the chances that you get and don't take. The two were offside and I was just waiting for the next one to come - and it came really late on. That's why it's important to keep level-headed.”

‘He's an unbelievable talent’

The academy graduate also gave a shoutout to Bradley Barcola after his first senior hat-trick.

“I think it's been really hard for [Bradley] - not in terms of on the pitch because in the changing room we all know how good he is. But moving country and trying to settle in fast is tough.

“I found it tough on loan so changing country completely must be something else. I'm just really happy that's he's shown how good he is tonight. Hopefully he just carries on doing it now.

“He's unbelievable. He's an unbelievable talent and I'm sure he'll be unreal for Liverpool.”
