Notre Dame got the win it needed on Saturday night, upsetting No. 1 Miami 31-24 in front of a raucous home crowd.
The Irish got major contributions on both sides of the ball, offensively led by quarterback CJ Carr and defensively safety Luke Talich and defensive end Boubacar Traore. While Notre Dame build a solid 24-3 lead early in the second half, the Hurricanes never gave up and made it a game until the last moments.
Many went to social media to react to the Notre Dame huge upset over Miami, and here are some of the best posts made after the win.
What a moment for Carr, who has put himself into the Heisman Trophy conversation following the victory. He played fantastic, and was a big reason why the Irish upset the top ranked team in the country.
This one came down to the end, and the celebration following it was massive, almost as big as the impact the win has on the Irish’s future. What a moment in South Bend last night.
An awesome moment for the program, not just the current players but future as well. Monds, the 2027 quarterback commit, seems pretty happy about last nights result.
After losing his last three top-10 games, Freeman got the monkey off his back on Saturday. This win has to feel great for the head coach, as this is the biggest regular season win during his Notre Dame tenure.
The Irish have made a huge mark recruiting the state of Florida, and this win is just more to add to their pitch. Come to South Bend, win big games, compete for titles and major awards. Enough said.
Yeah, Brady, that’s how we all felt. It was such a great game for the Irish, one that is helping cement their status among this year’s elite teams.
You can hear the team going nuts in the locker room, and Freeman acknowledge it, breaking up his press conference. He was proud of his team, and rightfully so.
After this result, there is a very good argument that the Irish should have been ranked much higher in the initial CFP Poll. Nicole Auerbach is right, Notre Dame looked like a top-5 team instead of a top-12 on Saturday.
It’s a family atmosphere in South Bend, as the coaches all support each other. The basketball team has gotten off to a good start, 2-0, and Seider was happy to see the football team get the victory.
This one is worth the big celebration, and Carr most likely just wanted to be in the locker room with his teammates. This is the culmination of all their hard work, and with more season to be played, they should enjoy this win.
