At AEW WrestleDream 2026, Tommaso Ciampa had a great match against Andrade El Idolo for the National Championship. He came up short, but did get in some comedic spots against the champion. El Idolo famously tears off his pants during matches to reveal trunks that read "How you know?" Ciampa did the same, revealing black trunks that read "I just know". Much like he did at Grand Slam: Mexico, Ciampa attacked El Idolo's pants until the pants kicked out at two.

It's not all fun and games. Ciampa has aspirations of wrestling in NJPW and has his sights set on one man. In an interview with SBNation, Ciampa said he wants to wrestle former IWGP Heavyweight Champion, Shingo Takagi.

"Shingo [Takagi] always jumps out at me as someone I've always wanted to share a ring with. I don't know that my body or personal life at this point bodes well for a full-on tour or G1 Tournament, but doing a show here or there, or three shows, I'd be 100% open to that," he said.

Takagi has had his share of matches with AEW talent as of late. Over the summer, he wrestled the late PAC and Claudio Castagnoli in a tag match and blamed them for his poor showing in the G1. After calling out Castagnoli, he defeated him at Destruction last month. He is scheduled to face a returning Jon Moxley at Power Struggle on November 3.
