Shane Drohan is a World Series champion. The former FSU pitcher won the 2026 World Series with the Milwaukee Brewers, beating the Tampa Bay Rays in five games to win their first-ever championship.
The lefty enjoyed a solid rookie season with the Brewers after being traded from the Boston Red Sox in the offseason ahead of the season. While he started 19 games for them, he made just one start in the playoffs and appeared in Game Four of the World Series as a reliever.
He struggled in both appearances, suffering the loss in Game Four after failing to get an out in the bottom of the 12th inning after Milwaukee took a 3-2 lead in the top of the inning. All four batters he faced got a hit, extending the series one game before Milwaukee ended it on Wednesday with a dominant 4-1 win.
His postseason performance might not have been up to his standards, but he showed his potential during the regular season. He finished the season with a 7-5 record and a 4.19 ERA in 124.2 innings, making 33 appearances. He recorded two saves and held opponents to a .255 batting average, striking out 125 and walking 44.
Drohan had to beat two former FSU players to earn his ring. Tampa Bay manager Kevin Cash and starting shortstop Taylor Walls both played in Tallahassee.
