Milnthorpe Corinthians move up after 3-1 home victory

Milnthorpe Corinthians moved up to tenth in the West Lancashire League Premier Division following an important 3-1 home win against Burscough Richmond at the Strands.

Three goals during the first half proved to be the difference for Corinthians where Hayden Ellis opened the scoring after seven minutes before Zach Clark doubled the home team’s lead on 39 minutes.

Corinthians completed a comfortable first half after Reece Pearce scored two minutes before half time while the visitors scored a late consolation when Alfie Westhead scored on 78 minutes.

In the other games, Kendal County lost 5-0 at Lostock St Gerards, where first half strikes from Reece Thompson and Charlie Markland saw Kendal 2-0 down at half time.

And Lostock St Gerards continued to control the second half after Reece Thompson scored his second while Josh Brown and Matty Bulcock were also on target for the hosts.

In West Lancashire League Division One, Kendal United won their second consecutive game after winning 3-0 at Turton.

Lewis Airey opened the scoring after 34 minutes before Tommy Varey’s second half brace sealed the win for James Pattison’s team.

Carnforth Rangers progressed into the next round of the Lancashire Amateur Shield after defeating Eagley 5-0.

Eagley, who play in the league above, were last season’s West Lancashire League Premier Division champions, however Carnforth, who are fourth in Division One, defeated a strong opponent who are currently fourth in the table.

Cameron Holmes's brace and goals from Bailey Backhouse, Joe Jobling and Luke Barmby eased Carnforth into the next round where they have been drawn at home to Lostock St Gerards on Saturday November 7.
