Chelsea recorded their most impressive result of the 2026/27 season against Everton. It was a hard-fought 2-0 away victory, built on an unlikely first clean sheet in more than 20 Premier League games.
Pedro Neto stole the show with a second-half brace, while Joao Pedro endured a quiet afternoon up front. Here are The Chelsea Chronicle’s player ratings following a remarkable win at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
FULL TIME
This is Chelsea’s first clean sheet in the league since 17th January!
Emiliano Martinez looked assured throughout the match, making several solid saves, as he has done all season. He had one lapse in concentration when he gave away a corner for holding onto the ball for too long. Unfortunately, he was withdrawn in the second half after an almighty collision with Jarrad Branthwaite.
Josh Acheampong is growing into his starting role on the right of the back three. He did not exactly keep Jack Grealish quiet on Everton’s left wing, but he rose to the challenge. His only disappointment was picking up a needless yellow card for a lazy challenge in the first half.
Maxence Lacroix had a solid game at the heart of Chelsea’s defence. His height, physicality and leadership have certainly strengthened the Blues’ backline since he joined from Crystal Palace.
Levi Colwill handed the captain’s armband to Moises Caicedo against Everton after leading the team against Bournemouth. He did not have much to do defensively, as the Toffees did not attack often down their right side, but he deserves a 7/10 for playing his part in a rare clean sheet.
Pedro Neto has adapted to his wing-back role really well under Xabi Alonso. He worked his socks off at the Hill Dickinson Stadium and delivered a few enticing crosses into the box. However, the Portuguese winger stole the show with two delightful finishes to earn all three points for Chelsea. He has turned his Blues career around and deserved the Man of the Match award.
Jordan Henderson did not set the world alight as he did against Bournemouth, when he scored two goals and provided an assist. This time, he was the steady partner for Caicedo that Chelsea have been crying out for. He did nothing spectacular but worked hard off the ball and kept the ball ticking over in possession.
Moises Caicedo put in a captain’s performance for Chelsea against Everton. His tenacity makes the Blues much more difficult to break down, while he is also comfortable progressing the ball through the centre of the pitch. His volley from Henderson’s corner, which crashed against the crossbar, showed unbelievable quality and deserved a goal.
No timeline has been given for his return…
Many Chelsea fans would have been disappointed to see Jorrel Hato start in place of the injured Pep Chavarria at left wing-back. Hato is better suited to playing in a more defensive role, but he broke forward straight after the second half kicked off and assisted Pedro Neto’s goal.
Cole Palmer started brightly but faded as the first half progressed. His darting run into the box created space for Neto’s goal, but he cannot be given too much credit for that.
Morgan Rogers had a quiet game on the attacking front until he held the ball up expertly and played in Hato, who assisted Neto’s opener. His liveliest moments came without the ball, receiving a yellow card for antagonising James Tarkowski and making a crunching challenge on James Garner.
Joao Pedro held the ball up well on a few occasions, but it was his worst performance of the season so far. The Brazilian forward never really looked like scoring or creating a chance.
