Dundee United urged to stay ‘brave’ by Jim Goodwin

The Terrors have built some momentum in recent weeks and are now three matches unbeaten after a 3-0 victory at St Mirren and then edging out Hibernian 1-0 at Tannadice.

Goodwin hopes that focused mindset and high work rate can continue at McDiarmid Park against Simo Valakari’s well-organised side, who sit above United in fifth on goal difference.

“I couldn’t be any happier than what I have been over the last couple of games in terms of the physical output, in terms of what the players are putting in out of possession, the structure, the team, the discipline, the organisation has been excellent, which has helped us to keep two clean sheets,” Goodwin told DUTV ahead of the trip to Perth.

“And then in possession, we have been very brave, very controlled and decision making has been exceptional at times, when to play forward, and when to slow the game down.

“The only criticism I suppose from last Saturday would be that we didn’t capitalise on some of the other really good chances that we had in the game.”

Goodwin added: “We had a had a great build-up week into the Hibs game and this week’s been no different, to be honest with you.

“So as much as we are not getting carried away with the last couple of results, we are certainly enjoying it and we certainly want to maintain it – the big question is, can we go and do it again tomorrow?”
