DEEETROOOIT BASKETBAAALLL!
At the midway point of the third quarter Tuesday, the Detroit Pistons were facing a 72-50 deficit against the Boston Celtics after a 3-point shot from C's forward Paul George. In other words, they were getting killed at home.
The rally also marks Detroit's biggest comeback win against the Celtics in the last 30 years.
In the rare Tuesday afternoon tip-off, the Pistons went on a 23-0 fourth-quarter run to eclipse Boston, and to ultimately get the 121-113 victory.
For a minute there, it felt like the same old story in regard to the Pistons being flat-footed, getting out-schemed and ultimately sleepwalking their way through the rest of the game.
Nope.
And hats off to the spark, or whatever you want to call it, that turned a lifeless afternoon into an absolute electric factory. I went from being bored out of my mind to not knowing what the hell was going on, it was bananas.
If this historic opening-day explosion is any indication of how Detroit plans to handle adversity this season, consider the Eastern Conference officially put on notice.
Remember, this is the same team that had 60 wins just last season ... they could easily flip the script and find themselves in the NBA Finals in June.
