There will be no Jamal Musiala who's yet to regain fitness after suffering a thigh injury during the international break. Manuel Neuer is also a big doubt as he missed Bayern's thrashing of Leipzig last weekend due to a foot issue. But the big miss for the game will be Michael Olise who is suspended for the match after picking up a second yellow in their previous 3-3 draw against Viking.
Olise's influence in this team is huge. His absence against a big team like Arsenal will be felt -- although head coach Vincent Kompany will hope other key players like Harry Kane and Luis Díaz step up on Wednesday.
Both Kane and Diaz scored against Leipzig over the weekend with the latter in fact netting a hat trick. It looks like Diaz is now back in form after a slow start to the season and he will have to do heavy lifting on the wings.
If Neuer doesn't start, Bayern will continue to bank on Jonas Urbig while Kompany has a decision to make with regard to Olise's replacement. It could either be a straightforward one by going for Serge Gnabry or he could hand in a start to 18-year-old talent Lennart Karl.
While Arsenal have 10 wins out of the 11 games they played in all competitions this season, there is still plenty of scope for improvements, especially in the attacking department.
They defeated Nottingham Forest 1-0 in the Premier League on Sunday, but it wasn't a very convincing attacking display. It's understandable that Arsenal cannot produce all out attacking performances every time they step on the field. And to their credit, they are getting the job done by winning the matches. However, for a team which has big hopes of lifting the Champions League trophy, Mikel Arteta should try to inject more impetus while going forward.
The team has got the right players and there's serious squad depth as well. As Arteta himself suggested, the team wants to 'attack' the titles rather than defending. A little bit of work in the attack can make Arsenal an even more daunting team to beat.
Bayern have won eight of the previous 15 meetings between these teams in the Champions League, with Arsenal earning four victories.
Harry Kane has faced Arsenal 22 times in all competitions for Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern, scoring 15 goals in those matches.
Bayern are unbeaten in their last 39 Champions League group stage/league phase home matches (W37 D2). Their last home defeat at this stage was against English opposition -- 3-2 loss to Manchester City in December 2013.
Arsenal have won only one of their last eight European away fixtures in Germany (D2 L5).
