Kelechi Iheanacho has reflected on his decision to leave Celtic and join Bursaspor this summer.

The striker is on a simply outrageous run of form in Turkey. He has scored in every single match since his debut at the start of August, racking up a total of 17 goals in 13 games, if you include his international appearance for Nigeria against Russia.

He has become the first player in the history of Turkish football to score in ten consecutive matches, albeit in the second division. His strike-rate at Celtic was solid, but he has now blown it out of the water.

Reports are already claiming that bigger Turkish sides are in the hunt for Iheanacho — speaking this week, he reflected on the decision that led to his outrageous form.

Kelechi Iheanacho on Bursaspor: ‘It was a serious, concrete situation’

Reflecting with Bursaspor’s media channels, Iheanacho said: “To be honest, I don’t talk much about transfer negotiations. I’m just trying to focus on my football. The transfer talks were handled between agents and executives. Of course, I was aware of the transfer negotiations and everything.

“My agent told me that contact had been made and explained everything to me in detail. I was happy and said, ‘I think this is a good and interesting place.’

“We reviewed everything together and saw that it was a quite serious, concrete contract and situation. Then I said, ‘This is a good place to go; they have a good history and past.’ That’s why we said we could come here moving forward. We were a bit delayed, but in the end, we’re here and enjoying every moment.”

He continued on his future: “I am not going to say anything about the future until we can to the future. Right now, we are living in the moment, so we have to enjoy the moment now that we are living in it and make the most out of it and continue playing, winning, being at the top of the table, and scoring goals.”

Iheanacho endured a stop-start season at Celtic last time out, but by the end of the campaign, his goalscoring credentials were clear. He was brought in through the back door after the closure of the transfer window as a player with a pre-existing relationship with then-manager Brendan Rodgers.

Despite appearing mainly as a substitute under Martin O’Neill, his goalscoring contributions made their eventual league and cup double possible.
