Inverness will kick off their KDM Evolution Trophy Cup quest at home to Montrose who are currently in fourth place in League One.

After the draw, ICT assistant manager Billy Mckay commented: "The first thing you want is a home tie, but Montrose have got good players and a good manager – we saw last season how difficult games can be against them.

"You have to be in it to win it. Last year the group stage was brilliant for us to get players minutes, and sometimes people played in that before getting picked for a Saturday.

"We got to the final and had some great occasions. The Partick Thistle and Ayr United games were brilliant nights for the club. Obviously we came up short in the final, but we're a Championship team so we've got to believe we can be there right at the end again.

"It's a good draw, but a hard draw. It's one we'll look forward to later down the line."

Ross County have also found out who they will face in the second round of the KDM Evolution Trophy.

The Staggies were one of the top six teams from the group phase who joined the 10 Championship clubs teams as seeds for the draw.

It meant that Ross County would face an unseeded team which finished between seventh and 22nd from the group stage.

Ross County finished in second place during the group stage of the competition with five wins and one defeat.

Lowland League club Clydebank surprising finished top of the table with five wins and one defeat.

During the KDM Evolution Trophy group stage, Ross County beat Elgin City, Banks o’Dee, Clachnacuddin, Hearts B and Forfar Athletic. But they did suffer defeat to Aberdeen B.

Airdrieonians (3rd) Cove Rangers (4th) Peterhead (5th) and East Kilbride (6th) were also seeded from the group stage.
