It was another disappointing loss for the Indianapolis Colts, who now find themselves 2-5 on the season, after falling 16-10 to the Minnesota Vikings.
After looking back on Sunday's performance, let's highlight the studs and duds from the Colts' play -- although once again, there were more duds to take note of.
Adebawore continues to build upon what has been a strong season for him. In Sunday's game, he totaled a team-high and season-high five quarterback pressures, including two sacks. Overall, the Colts have struggled to get after the quarterback, but Adebawore has often provided some juice.
The struggles continue for Jones. Facing the extremely blitz-heavy Vikings who were able to create a lot of pressure, Jones was 13 of 22 passing for only 108 yards with an interception. A few other throws were near interceptions as well. Turnovers, poor decisions, and off-target passes have been season-long issues for Jones.
Any little production that the Colts did muster on offense was often by Taylor, who had one of his most productive games on the year, totaling 95 rushing yards with a touchdown. His 38-yard touchdown run was his first carry of 25-plus yards this season.
Shrader had been so good through six games, but fell apart on Sunday. In a game that the Colts lost by six, Shrader left six points on the field in the form of two missed field goal attempts.
To be fair, very few teams have had answers for Brian Flores' blitz-heavy approach. Not only does he blitz often, but he does from all parts of the field and with multiple defenders. According to PFF, the Vikings blitzed on a whopping 85% of the Colts' offensive snaps and pressured Jones nearly 60% of the time -- that's a lot. While Jones didn't play well, the constant pressure certainly didn't help.
