The Board of Directors of Kingstonian FC say they are "absolutely delighted" to announce Alan Dowson as the club's new manager.

Dowson, who was the manager who led Kingstonian FC back into the Isthmian League Premier Division as Division One South Champions in the 2008-09 season, returns after twelve years away from the K's, managing in the National League with Woking and National League South with the likes of Hampton & Richmond Borough, Dartford and Hemel Hempstead Town.

During this time he amassed two further promotions, first as Isthmian League Champions with Hampton and Richmond Borough in the 2015-16 season, taking them into the National League South when the Beavers only lost seven league matches all season and scored an incredible 105 goals; then again in 2018-19 when he led Woking back to the National League when winning the National League South play-off final against Welling United.

Dowson has also led a number of previous teams to numerous play-offs during his distinguished managerial career.

The Genial Geordie, as he was affectionately nicknamed by the K's faithful, was previously manager of Kingstonian between 2007 and 2014, when not only did he get the club promoted as champions but led the K's to two Premier Division play-offs.

Speaking about their new manager, Ks chairman George Vasilaras said: "The club received a huge amount of interest for the manager's position following Scott's departure last Wednesday [21 October].

"I spoke to a couple of managers but kept going back to Dowson, having spent a couple of hours with him last week. His infectious personality shone through, as did his sheer desire to want to do all he can to bring success back to our great club.

"Dowson is an experienced, proven manager, who I firmly believe will not only bring us success on the pitch, but will also bring the whole club together. He's a great combination of being a workaholic and football mad at the same time, he will give our club the best version of himself 24/7.

"Bringing Dowson back is a real genuine coup for us as a club and I know the Ks faithful will give him a fantastic reception and get behind him and the boys, starting with tomorrow's match away to AFC Stoneham, when Alan will be back in the Ks dugout leading us as our new manager."

He continued: "Again, as I've alluded to before recently, without Frank's support and backing, it wouldn't have been possible to bring Dowson in, so thank you once again, Frank.

"I'm genuinely excited and hope that Dowson can go full circle with us in terms of being that manager that takes us to our new home in the borough, planning permission permitting, given that he gave us all so many great memories at Kingsmeadow.

"I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the departing Tom Williams. I would like to thank Tom for his efforts whilst with us and wish him and his family all the best for the future.

"First team coach Lester Pyle and goalkeeping coach Matt Lovett will remain as part of Dowson's management team. Dowson will be naming his assistant manager and any further additions to his backroom staff in the coming days.

"Finally, I'd like to invite all Ks fans, whether existing, old or new, to our Meet the Manager Q&A with Dowson in the clubhouse after our match versus Winchester City this coming Saturday 31st October."

Dowson added: "I'm absolutely buzzing to be back as the manager of this great club, having spoken to George at length after Scott's departure.

"I'm genuinely excited at the vision that George and Frank have in terms of pushing the club forward, it just felt right for me to get involved in this hugely exciting project.

"I spent seven and a half years as Ks manager in my first spell, which is the longest I've ever spent anywhere, and from the bottom of my heart the club has always had a special place for me and all I want to do is firstly make sure we meet our objectives on the pitch, but secondly do what I do at every club I've ever managed, which is to bring everyone together, because without people you've not got a football club.

"I'm chomping at the bit to get started and will give my all for the club every single day. I won't stop in my quest to bring the club success and give everyone from George and Frank to the unbelievable K's fans a team and a club that we can all be proud of."
