Bove's footballing journey has been far from simple. In December 2024, while on loan at Fiorentina from AS Roma, Bove collapsed during a match against Inter Milan.
Following his collapse, Bove underwent surgery to have a subcutaneous implantable defibrillator implanted, a device that is banned in competitive sports in Italy.
Bove joined Watford in January 2026 and has become an important player for the Hornets, despite missing more than a year of competitive football, with his absence due to injury in recent weeks being a big blow.

The Italian has a documentary coming out next month about his journey since his collapse, titled 'In un battito'.
At the premiere in Rome, Bove took questions and spoke about a potential future return to playing in Italy, if regulations allowed it, but insisted he remains happy at Watford.
“Would I return to play in Italy if the eligibility rules were to change? I’m happy where I am now," he insisted, via Gazzetta dello Sport, "Playing abroad was one of my goals.
“But I can’t deny that I always follow the Italian league and, with an ear and a glance every now and then, I’m still here. Why not? In the future, I might even return.
“I’ve always remained attached to Roma and Italy. I don’t want to close off any avenues; we don’t know what football holds. A dream? I’d say more of a possibility."
Speaking specifically about his upcoming documentary, Bove offered people an insight into what to expect.
“This isn’t a film about my return to the field," he said. "[It is] about a young man who sees the trajectory of his life diverted into an empty space he must fill. I’m happy with how it turned out.
“I didn’t want it to be a documentary about a footballer, but something capable of reaching beneath the surface.”
