Kennet Eichhorn is recovering well from metabolic disorder as he could return before the end of the year. The 17-year-old joined Bayer Leverkusen from Hertha BSC in the summer despite strong interest from FC Bayern and Borussia Dortmund.

However, he suffered a major setback as he had to take a break from football due to metabolic disorder. Leverkusen only issued a short statement at the time, but Kicker now reports the treatment has already resulted in Eichhorn's metabolism being stabilized. Accordingly, the teenager gradually able to resume strength training.

However, the weight loss he suffered due to gastrointestinal problems will need more medications for the central midfielder. The latest update confirmed Eichhorn is working on muscle building and endurance training to make up for the significant time lost due to the long break.

Although Leverkusen are planning his return for the new year, the big prospect is now pushing for an earlier timeframe, according to Kicker. The Germany U17 international played 17 2. Bundesliga games for the 2. Bundesliga outfit last term.

In Kicker's conclusion, the most likely outcome will be that he'll have to wait until 2027 for his first Leverkusen appearance since he needs to be back in the training pitch by early November to have any chance of featuring before the Winterpause.
