Spalding United were pegged back by a quick-fire goal double as they lost a two-goal lead to share the spoils with Brackley Town on Tuesday night.
The Tulips had looked on course to snap a three-match losing streak in the National League North when goals from top scorer Bart Cybulski and Joe Nyahwema gave them control of the contest at the Sir Halley Stewart ground.
However, two goals in three minutes just past the hour mark saw Brackley battle back to earn a point in Spalding's first home league match for more than six weeks.
The Tulips made two changes to their starting line-up following the weekend defeat at Hednesford with Michael Kelly and Dan Jarvis returning in place of Ollie Rose and Sam Straughan-Brown.
Following the departure of goalkeeper Dan Wilks - who has joined Peterborough Sports - former Boston United and Skegness Town custodian Jake Lovelace was named on the substitutes' bench.
Brackley arrived just one place outside of the relegation zone and on the back of successive league losses against Hednesford and Radcliffe.
Spalding took the game to their visitors from the off and peppered the Brackley goal throughout the majority of the first half.
Dan Barton found himself in a good position early on but opted to pass instead of shooting and Brackley was able to get back and clear the danger.
Visiting goalkeeper Harrison Rhone then reacted well to keep out a Barton shot before the custodian was equal to a Dan Jarvis effort from distance.
The breakthrough finally came in the 33rd minute when a free-kick was played into the penalty area and Cybulski took control of the ball before driving home a tidy low finish beyond Rhone.
It gave the Tulips a deserved cushion at the break with home goalkeeper Peter Crook only being seriously tested by a low drive from Finn Roberts.
Spalding looked to set their stall out straight away after the restart with Jarvis lifting an effort over the crossbar within seconds of the game resuming.
Barton then beat his marker with a lively burst but was denied by a smart stop from Rhone at his near post before Crook was called into action on three occasions in quick succession.
Firstly, he made an acrobatic stop to deny George Harmon before holding a turn and shot from Tahvon Campbell and then thwarting Roberts in Brackley's best opening of the game so far.
It sparked a strong spell from the visitors with the Spalding defence being forced into some last-ditch blocks to keep Brackley at bay.
The Tulips then took the sting out of the visitors' tail with a second goal just before the hour mark when Nyahwema cut inside before unleashing an unstoppable drive that flew past Rhone.
But any thoughts that had put the contest beyond Brackley were quashed midway through the second half when O'Shea Ellis converted a cross from Alex Whittle.
Brackley then got back on level terms minutes later when Spalding conceded a penalty following a mistimed tackle in the area and substitute DJ Sturridge converted the spot kick.
Spalding were forced to regroup and go again with Jarvis getting in front of his marker to meet a Kelly cross but his header was straight at Rhone.
The Tulips had the lion's share of the late pressure but were unable to find a third goal and had to settle for a point.
