After previously representing the United States at youth level, Noahkai Banks switched his international allegiance to Germany during the last international break, making his debut for the DFB U21 team.

Speaking to Sky over the weekend, the 19-year-old made it clear once and for all that he will represent Germany at international level going forward.

“The decision is final, I am German now,” Banks stated.

“I spent a very long time discussing it with my family, and I also didn't play at the World Cup in the USA,” added the centre-back, who was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, but moved to Germany at a young age.

“I grew up here, I feel German, and I want to wear the eagle on my chest,” the defender explained.

Banks previously made 12 appearances for the United States at youth international level.
