Did Jack smile?
A win is a win and when the final whistle sounded, I exited the ground pretty quick.
I wanted to beat the rush, grab a pint and collect my Indian takeaway before the shop shut.
I only became aware of the melee, between the two managerial camps when I got home.
No doubt both clubs will be on the receiving end of a charge, resulting in a fine.
But what I want to know is whether, following the win, Jack smiled, something he rarely does!
In my view, it was essential that Luton Town got something from the game last night after being so lacklustre against the MK Dons, on Saturday.
After the game, in his post-match interview, and as reported by – The Lutonian – Jack remained a little cagey when discussing the game, firstly harking back to the loss against the MK Dons, remarking:
“Credit to the players because it’s not easy. We knew that what we were coming into. We knew that there was some disappointment around, of course, naturally, when we lose a game like that, where we should win.”
But to me it wasn’t the loss that hurt, it was the manner in which we slipped to defeat.
Continuing, the gaffer further added;
“But the players dealt with that well, started fast on the front foot, settled us down, but we kept that same intensity up and pressure up and probably, when we look it back tomorrow and we reflect on it, a little bit of a similar feeling in terms of the chances we create, and we don’t take the game away from them.”
Indeed, getting that early crucial breakthrough, so early on, gave the Hatters something to build on, although a degree of resilience, allied with a bit of good luck, helped when Barnsley pushed forward.
But credit to Barnsley, they kept their heads up, their shape and caused the Hatters some problems, prompting the boss to further add:
“But that being said, I felt like we dealt with that period of the game where that could potentially get more and more dangerous, we dealt with that well, whether it would be with playing a little bit more direct or slowing the game down at times, which I felt last season we didn’t do well enough. We spoke about that.
“So, yeah, credit to the players. They deserve that.”
That may be the case, but Saturday could well further test our resolve when Leicester City come to Kenilworth Road.
Can we make it back-to-back wins?
