Steelers need to reunite with familiar WR who Aaron Rodgers knows all too well

The Pittsburgh Steelers need to reunite with a wide receiver that Aaron Rodgers is all too familiar with.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are in a situation they've often found themselves in over the past few years: they need more wide receivers. Luckily, a familiar face and nine-year veteran receiver with ties to Aaron Rodgers just became available.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Los Angeles Chargers released wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who reunited with Rodgers on the Steelers in the latter half of the 2025 season. With Pittsburgh's wide receiver room devastated by injuries, bringing back Valdes-Scantling seems like the move to make.

Valdes-Scantling began his NFL career with the Green Bay Packers (2018-2021) before also having short stints with the Kansas City Chiefs (2022-2023), Buffalo Bills (2024), New Orleans Saints (2024), San Francisco 49ers (2025), Steelers (2025) and Los Angeles Chargers (2026).

In Valdes-Scantling's most recent tenure with Pittsburgh, he appeared in five games and made one start, catching 10 passes for 80 yards and one touchdown during this span.

With Roman Wilson and Michael Pittman Jr. sidelined on injured reserve for the foreseeable future, Valdes-Scantling would immediately play a big role next to DK Metcalf and rookie third-rounder Germie Bernard. MVS still has enough left in the tank to stretch the field vertically while also providing key depth to the team's receiving room.
