Rams LB Nate Landman in concussion protocol

The Los Angeles Rams have suffered a multitude of injuries as of late, littering their injured reserve with stars. Now they may be without another critical player, team captain and defensive signal-caller Nate Landman.

According to The Athletic's Nate Atkins, the off-ball linebacker is in the concussion protocol. He will not practice on Wednesday.

Only missing one play, Landman recorded 71 snaps on Sunday during the team's loss to the Arizona Cardinals, picking up 10 total tackles. Since joining the Rams last season, he has not missed a game for the franchise. This season, he has 51 total tackles (27 solo), six stuffs, and two forced fumbles.

If he is unable to play, Omar Speights should be the player to step up in his role, while Shaun Dolac and Grant Stuard will serve as backups. Considering the team's heavy use of their nickel and dime defense, Landman's potential absence could lead to problems on the interior as they're set to face the tight end duo of Brock Bowers and Michael Mayer this week when they play the Las Vegas Raiders.

Speights played only 21 snaps against the Cardinals, while Dolac and Stuard rarely find playing time on defense.
