Jeremiah Fears #0 of the New Orleans Pelicans drives to the basket vs. Utah.(Layne Murdoch Jr.)

Down 10 points entering the fourth quarter, New Orleans rallied. Down four in the final 30-plus seconds of regulation, the Pelicans forced overtime. Trailing again by six to open OT, another surge. New Orleans kept battling back from deficits Wednesday vs. Utah, eventually pulling off a thrilling victory, the Pelicans’ fourth straight win.

Second-year pros Derik Queen and Jeremiah Fears helped the hosts get into position to prevail in a tense fourth quarter, then veteran forward Saddiq Bey cashed in OT buckets to clinch the victory, firing up the Smoothie King Center audience.

The first two weeks of New Orleans’ regular season have not been for the faint of heart. Of the league’s first five overtime games of 2026-27, the Pelicans have now participated in three of them.
