Gary Neville has demanded the Glazer family sell Manchester United, accusing the club's majority owners of overseeing years of failure while allowing debts and stadium problems to mount.
United are without a victory in eight matches and sit just one point above the Premier League relegation zone.
Speaking on Stick to Football, Neville argued that the ownership situation could no longer continue, questioning both United's finances and the decision to hand responsibility for football matters to another party.
The former United captain acknowledged the sums spent on players but claimed that borrowing had left the club restricted.
"There's £1.2bn of debt in that football club, they're hamstrung in some ways," Neville said.
