Nottingham Forest ended a run of three straight defeats by drawing 1-1 with Ipswich Town at Portman Road.
The Reds needed a big performance, and the game got underway with Forest playing well in the blustery conditions. Early dominance paid off when Daniel Munoz sent a delicious ball to Neco Williams at the back post, and he lashed home beyond Christian Walton.
Forest don’t make life easy for themselves, however, and handed Ipswich a reprieve close to half-time. Nikola Milenkovic’s loose pass was capitalised on by Julio Enciso who slid the ball inside Matz Sels’ near post.
Still, a point does take Forest out of the bottom three – at least for now. The Reds once again missed a number of chances and also felt aggrieved that Issa Diop wasn’t sent off the second half – following a VAR review.

The game hinged on a big call when McAtee was clearly fouled by Diop, and after Tom Bramall waved away his protests, VAR sent him for an on-field review.
It was deemed that although Diop fouled McAtee, the Forest man was never going to get on the end of the ball, and the Reds got a free kick, with the Ipswich defender getting away with a yellow card.
Lee Hendrie was covering the game for Sky Sports, and he couldn’t get on board with the decision made by the referee after checking VAR.
“He’s really lucky he’s got away with that, being honest. I’m sorry, I know his touch is heavy, but he’s not going away from the goal. I’m sorry, but that’s a red card.”
Hendrie does have a point. McAtee could have got the ball, and perhaps on another day with another referee, Forest might have played the last half an hour with 10 men.
Ultimately, Forest have to own their own performance on the night, and once again it’s a tale of far too many missed chances from a Reds perspective.
