Rams dominate Raiders to get back on track as they seek to turn season around

Through one half on Sunday, the Los Angles Rams looked very much like the team many picked to win the Super Bowl.

They raced out to 28-6 halftime lead over the Las Vegas Raiders that was big enough to overcome a pair of second-half turnovers. The Raiders never threatened, and the Rams remained comfortably in control of a 35-21 win throughout the game.

The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Rams, who got off to a 2-4 start after entering the season as the favorite to win the Super Bowl. They remain with a difficult road ahead just to make the playoffs.

The Rams are back in the win column, but have little room for error moving forward to contend for the NFC playoffs.

Rams roll despite key injuries

The Rams are now 3-4 win Sunday's win over a Raiders team with the same record that's lost four straight since a surprising 3-0 start to the season. The Rams delivered the dominant win despite playing without key players on both sides of the ball.

All-Pro pass rusher Myles Garrett remains out with a knee injury that's sidelined him since Week 1. The Rams also played Sunday without All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie (groin), former All-Pro receiver Davante Adams (hamstring) and leading tackler Nathan Landman (concussion).

They looked little worse for wear due to the injuries with a strong effort on both sides of the ball. Matthew Stafford entered halftime having completed 17 of 19 passes for 148 yards with 3 touchdowns and no turnovers, channeling his MVP form from 2025.

His third touchdown pass to Puka Nacua extended the Rams lead to 21-3 late in the first half and made franchise history.

The touchdown pass was the 155th of his Rams career, moving him past Roman Gabriel for the most in franchise history.

The Rams added a fourth touchdown before the break on a 17-yard Kyren Williams touchdown run and entered halftime with a commanding 22-point lead.

A second-half fumble by Williams and interception by Stafford helped the Raiders cut their deficit to 28-18 in the fourth quarter. But a Blake Corum touchdown run extended the lead to 35-18 and iced the game with 6:34 remaining.

Stafford finished his day completing 23 of 29 passes for 195 yards with 3 touchdowns and 1 interception. The pick was hardly his fault as an on-target ball bounced off of tight end Colby Parkinson’s hands and into those of linebacker Nakobe Dean. It raised Stafford’s interception tally to seven in seven games after he threw eight in three of his previous four seasons.

Corum (93 yards 1 TD) and Williams (99 yards, 1 TD), meanwhile, led a rushing attack that tallied 199 yards on 5.2 yards per attempt as Los Angeles totaled 386 yards of total offense.

The Rams defense kept the Raiders out of the end zone until the fourth quarter. It also failed to create a turnover and allowed Las Vegas to tally 350 yards in what added up to mixed performance. But it was largely encouraging on the heels of their 2-4 start, especially in the context of missing Garrett, McDuffie and Landman.

Rams have a long way to go to dig out of hole

The question now is if the Rams can keep this up. They have a favorable upcoming schedule with games against the Chargers, Commanders and Cardinals that they should expect to win if they consider themselves playoff contenders.

Even then, they’d be 6-4 with a difficult end-of season slate coming out of a Week 11 by. The Rams finish the season with games against the Packers, Chiefs, 49ers, Cowboys, Seahawks, Bucs and Seahawks again to close the season.

In a stacked race for the NFC playoffs, there’s little margin for error for the Rams moving forward.
