Australia have a strong record against Zimbabwe in men’s ODIs. They have won 29 of their 32 matches while Zimbabwe have won only two. One game ended with no result. Even with this big advantage, Zimbabwe have caused a few surprises in recent years. This means Australia will need to stay focused against the home side. Australia’s highest ODI score against Zimbabwe is 350/6, made in Harare in 2014. Zimbabwe’s best score in this contest is 301/6 which they recorded in Perth in 2001.
The last five matches between the two teams show that Zimbabwe can challenge Australia on their day. In September 2022, Zimbabwe shocked Australia with a three-wicket win in Townsville. Ryan Burl was the star with the ball, taking 5/10. Australia had won the first two games of that series by eight wickets and five wickets.
Zimbabwe also beat Australia by three wickets in Harare in 2014. It was their first ODI win over Australia in 31 years. Earlier in that same series, Australia won by 198 runs. Mitchell Marsh played an important role with both bat and ball.
