Broncos remain elite at home, unbeaten in amazing throwback uniform

The Denver Broncos not only look good, but play well in their throwback uniforms. Of all the iterations of the Broncos' throwbacks, going back to 1994, the Broncos are 8-0 in throwback designs, including an impressive 6-0 record since they brought back their popular "Orange Crush" uniforms when the team redesigned a new closet in 2024.

The Broncos have used several throwbacks throughout the years, including two versions of their mustard yellow and brown AFL throwbacks worn in 2009.

Denver's success in their throwbacks translated to their Thursday Night Football win in Week 6, where they entered halftime with a 14-3 lead over the defending champion Seattle Seahawks. With that victory, the Broncos have now won five consecutive prime-time games at home.

After the game, coach Sean Payton tipped his hat to the Denver crowd, who always seem to show out for the throwback games in general.

"[O]ur crowd was unbelievable," Payton said. "When you play one of these Thursday games, home team Thursdays are 88 percent winners with a halftime lead. Normal games in the NFL are like 76 percent. So there is that short week.”

Quarterback Bo Nix also spoke to the home field advantage of the "Mile High Thunder" of the crowd at home in such a big game.

"We have a great atmosphere, especially in a situation like this, primetime," Nix said. "They put that [attendance] up on the jumbotron; it doesn’t look like many people were no-shows. So it was a very full house again on a Thursday night. I just think it’s really important to play to that home-field advantage. We feel very comfortable, and we play well at home. At the same time, that should be our team at all times, home or away. The home-field advantage is real, and we have a great home to play.”

Take a look at each of the throwback looks the Broncos have worn, and won in, since 2001.

Although the win was sloppy in the Week 6 overtime victory, fans both from Seattle and Denver were witness to an incredible light show at halftime, including what seemed like a metric ton of fireworks, and the Broncos' official skydiving team, Thunderstorm, making their second appearance of the night. Check it out below!

The Broncos will wear their throwbacks one more time this season in Week 18 to close out the season against the Los Angeles Chargers. Hopefully, the Broncos can play better in their regular set of uniforms until then!
