There finally seems to be substance to the alleged 'beef' between star Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum and his former costar, vet Philadelphia 76ers forward Jaylen Brown, after the latter's cryptic replies to a claim made about his trade to the 76ers. But for much of their time in Boston, the narrative was more a media obsession about how these two stars ought to feel (and may have). In the eyes of Golden State Warriors vet Draymond Green, that narrative may have metastasized into something real due to the impact its longstanding existence may have had on their actually-existing relationship in a recent episode of his eponymous podcast.

"When I look at it now, it’s now festering," he said. "All of those feelings, one guy could be looking at like, 'Man, I remember when such and such said this'; Maybe he was feeling a way. The other guy could be looking at it like, 'Oh man, I remember when this came out'. Maybe he was (upset). And so I think what you’re seeing now is probably a culmination of all the years of people saying, 'Oh man, they don’t get along,' And all of these things have now reared its ugly head and they’re not teammates anymore. They don’t have to fake like they’re on the same page anymore. And they just move forward."

"And the moving forward (for Tatum is) like, 'I'm in Boston. I don't really care how he's feeling. I'm in Boston. It is what it is. There's no beef.'," said Green.

"(Brown is) on the other end like, 'Man, I helped build that thing up too. And now I'm out and calling cap that you didn't know I was getting traded,' pretty much saying 'You knew that I was getting traded. And you knew I was getting traded and you did nothing. Or are you acting like you didn't know?' That's what Jaylen Brown said. (Tatum is) like, 'Man, I am not dealing with any of that. And you have these two guys who are approaching this thing in totally different ways. But it's going to be a storyline because guess what? People love drama. And being that people love drama, they're going to keep rehashing this. And as long as (Brown)'s willing to talk about it, they'll keep rehashing it. I don't think (Tatum) will talk about it much anymore. It's just not who (he) is. I don't foresee that. But I think (Brown) may keep going about it because he probably feels a (certain) way."

"And I get it, right? Like, he feels (upset)," said Green. "Everybody's going to have their opinion on whether he should feel that way or not. It isn't you in his shoes. He clearly feels that way. And so I don't think this is going away."
