Chelsea predicted XI vs Tottenham as Xabi Alonso prepares to make big Romeo Lavia call

Chelsea will be looking for their third consecutive win in the Premier League when they take on Tottenham Hotspur this Saturday.

The Blues are in good form right now after defeating Everton 2-0 last weekend. Before that, they hammered Bournemouth 5-1.

Following those two victories, Chelsea fans will not want to see too many changes if any. Of course, one starter against Everton, Emiliano Martinez, is unavailable after fracturing his jaw.

It means Mike Penders is set to start at Stamford Bridge, but will Xabi Alonso make any other changes? Here is The Chelsea Chronicle’s predicted line-up!

Chelsea have been dominant against Tottenham for many years, but what does Xabi Alonso need to do to ensure this run keeps going?

The Blues haven't lost to Tottenham since 2023 👀

We already know Penders will be starting, but in terms of the rest of the backline, there is some uncertainty. However, after keeping a clean sheet against Everton, the club’s first in the Premier League in nine months, it is safe to predict that Alonso will go with a back three of Josh Acheampong, Maxence Lacroix and Levi Colwill.

One of the wing-back positions is a little trickier. Pedro Neto is a shoo-in to start after his two goals at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but Alonso may be tempted to make a change on the opposite flank. Jorrel Hato played well last Saturday, but he was only drafted in because of an injury to Pep Chavarria. Personally, we think Hato has done enough to retain his place.

Midfield is where things get really interesting. Moises Caicedo and Jordan Henderson have struck up a good partnership, but Romeo Lavia is fit and usually plays quite well against Spurs. Maybe we will see the Belgium international at some stage, but Alonso will probably stick with Caicedo and Henderson for now.

The twin No.10s will be Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers, there is no doubt about that (sorry Estevao).

There is also only one choice for the No.9 position: Joao Pedro. He will be looking for his sixth Premier League goal of the season on Saturday.
