Chelsea are playing well right now, and part of what’s producing that is competition for places.
Jorrel Hato lost his spot in the team to Pep Chavarria, but a minor injury to the Spaniard this week meant Hato was back in for yesterday’s game. He was excellent, and it now feels we’ve got two in-form left backs battling for minutes.
Speaking after the game, Hato gave his thoughts on the game, and the fact his team had got their first clean sheet since the 17th of January.
“That was one of our goals. Of course, we score a lot of goals, everyone knows this, but now we finally we have our own clean sheet and as a team it’s good,” Hato explained.
“We didn’t give many chances away, or big chances, so that’s solid and we keep going. Now we have to go forward with it and keep as many clean sheets as we can.”
The Blues face Tottenham next weekend, a really big and important test for them as they try to continue a winning run.
Chelsea goalkeeper Emi Martinez has had surgery on his jaw the club confirmed today.
Xabi Alonso has made it clear that he’s very confident in Mike Penders to step in and cover for Martinez while he’s out.
We also got an update on the status of Martinez from Alonso after the game after his horrible injury.
