[WATCH] Pakistan's three fielders leave easy catch unclaimed against India at U-19 Asia Cup

Three Pakistan U-19 fielders converged under a high ball in the 44th over but none took responsibility, gifting Kavya Patel a lifeline as India posted 208 in 46.3 overs.

A moment of confusion in the field handed India a crucial reprieve during their U-19 Asia Cup clash against Pakistan at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Oman on November 8, 2026. Three Pakistan U-19 fielders converged under a high ball in the 44th over of India's innings, but not one of them completed the catch, allowing the ball to fall safely to the ground.

The incident began when Kavya Patel stepped out and hit a length delivery from Mohammed Sayyam, sending the ball high into the air with a top edge. Wicketkeeper Hamza Zahoor and fielder Usman Khan both moved towards the ball alongside Sayyam, yet the trio failed to communicate and none claimed responsibility for the take. Sayyam was visibly angry after the mix-up and immediately questioned his teammates over the missed opportunity. Meanwhile, at the non-striker's end, Ishan Sood was seen smiling as Patel received an unexpected second chance.

The video of the blunder spread rapidly across social media platforms and drew widespread attention from cricket fans.

How did India recover to post 208?

India's innings had been far from straightforward before that moment of Pakistan confusion. Captain Lakshya Raichandani was dismissed for a duck early in the innings by Ali Raza, and the side slipped to 86 for 5 as Pakistan's bowling attack fought back strongly.

However, Arjun Rajput took charge of the situation and produced a commanding knock of 107 off 85 balls. His innings featured 11 boundaries and five sixes, and he maintained a strike rate of 125.88 throughout. Rajput's century helped India recover from their precarious position and post a competitive total. Pakistan eventually bowled India out for 208 in 46.3 overs, setting themselves a target of 209 runs to win.

What does the dropped catch mean for the match situation?

The missed opportunity in the 44th over came at a stage when Pakistan had worked hard to restrict India and were in a position to press further. Had the catch been taken cleanly, India's lower order would have been exposed with the innings in its final stages.

Instead, Patel survived to contribute further to India's total, and the partnership with Rizwanullah helped India add valuable runs before the innings concluded at 208. However, Pakistan made their way through in the match, successfully reaching home with three wickets in hand, with Zahoor himself scoring the match-winning century.
