UEFA has picked up on Celtic’s 7-1 hammering of Hearts, with the Europa League organisers sharing their reaction to Sunday’s result at Paradise.
The timing is interesting. Celtic were beaten 4-1 by Benfica in Europe, yet had five goals past Hearts before half-time.
Celta Vigo are next up at Celtic Park on Thursday.
Yang, Jota and others are all in contention too…
The Europa League’s official X account posted seven football emojis on Monday, adding: “Celtic put on a show on the weekend 😤”

Callum Osmand and Benjamin Nygren both scored twice, with Kieran Tierney, Camilo Durán and a Jamie McCart own goal completing the rout.
O’Neill had explained why Osmand deserved his starting place before the Hearts game. The youngster repaid that faith with two goals and will be hoping to keep his place against Celta Vigo.
Celtic also finished the weekend four points clear at the top of the Premiership after inflicting a humiliating defeat on their Edinburgh opponents as Rangers dropped points at Dundee.
The latest Europa League qualification predictions make grim reading for Celtic after their opening two matches.
O’Neill needs points against Celta Vigo, and the performances of Osmand and Durán against Hearts have given him options up front.
The Celtic manager told the club’s official website: “Thursday becomes really important because we want to try and make some sort of a mark on it and we want to try and qualify to the latter stages, which we did last year, so it’s all guns blazing on Thursday evening.”
