Havering ’90 Joggers celebrate season of racing success

Havering '90 Joggers, the largest adult running club in Havering, completed a busy October with members competing across the UK and Europe in marathons, half marathons, and other races.

The club, based at Two Gables Pavilion at Upminster Rugby Club, has around 200 members ranging from experienced marathon runners to those who run for fitness, friendship, and fun.

A spokesperson for Havering '90 Joggers said: "Some incredible performances at the Sparkasse 3 Countries Marathon (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) and Chelmsford Marathon, with Camille & Jack achieving HUGE PBs. We also celebrated strong performances in the Royal Parks, Oxford, Chelmsford and 3 Countries Half Marathons."

"The Tiptree 10 Miler marked our final Grand Prix race of the year! A brilliant way to round off the series, with some runners taking on their FIRST EVER 10-mile race!"

Among the standout achievements was Sue Spong, who won an Essex County gold medal in her age category.

The 3 Countries event saw members compete not only in the marathon but also in the quarter marathon and relay.

Closer to home, the club’s men’s team won their division in the popular ELVIS race series and secured promotion to Division 1. While the club is proud of its competitive achievements, members emphasise that running is about more than just medals and personal bests.

The spokesman said: "For many members, running is just as much about friendship, wellbeing and enjoying a few miles in good company. Regular coached sessions cater for different abilities, while the club’s Learn2Run programme supports those completely new to the sport. Members also run socially and regularly support one another at local events and races further afield."

Havering '90 Joggers meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, with additional sessions often arranged by members. The club welcomes new runners of all abilities and encourages anyone interested to give it a try.

The spokesman said: "With nearly 200 runners, a busy racing calendar and plenty of stories unfolding both on and off the start line, Havering ’90 Joggers continues to make its mark on the local running scene, one mile at a time."

Havering '90 Joggers continues to promote the benefits of running and community, celebrating not just individual successes but the collective spirit that keeps the club moving forward. For more information about joining or getting involved, visit www.h90j.org.uk.
