In the match against Dundee last night (October 28), Flames had a big lead trimmed to just a single goal, before recovering to a 5-2 home ice win over Dundee Stars.
At 2:18 Tyler Busch put Flames in front. Brett Neumann doubled it less than two minutes later, and the hosts carried that early advantage into the middle set.
Just 88 seconds into the frame, Josh Waller made it 3-0 but Keaton Jameson got one back at 23:09 and, in the 29th minute, his second cut the deficit to a single. Justin Ducharme’s reply at 35:50, however, stopped the slide and made it 4-2 after 40 minutes.
An early third period powerplay put Spectrum’s men fully back at the three-goal advantage when Cole Sanford converted a powerplay to make it 5-2 which held up as the final tally.
Brad Arvanitis collected the win with 19 saves on 21 shots while Carl Stankowski was 20 for 25.
“We started off very well and established a good lead, but let our foot off the gas a bit in the second,” admitted Head Coach Paul Dixon.
“The guys did a good job of not letting it slide any further and we managed to turn the momentum back in our favour to get out of there with an important set of league points.”
