Former Vikings WR is happy for J.J. McCarthy getting a fresh start

The relationship between the Minnesota Vikings and former 10th overall pick J.J. McCarthy was always a rocky one. Injuries, poor performance, and question marks about development marred the potential he had coming out of Michigan. The franchise moved on from McCarthy a few weeks ago, as they traded him to the New York Giants, and one Vikings fan favorite is over the moon for him.

While appearing on KFAN1003, former Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen spoke about how he's happy that McCarthy is getting a fresh start in New York:

Thielen, ever the pro's pro, shouting out McCarthy and showing his excitement for the young quarterback is expected. McCarthy, in relief of Jameis Winston last week, threw for 243 yards in the fourth quarter alone, almost leading the Giants to a come-from-behind victory. Ultimately, New York would lose at home to the New Orleans Saints 34-27.

McCarthy will get his first start for the Giants this weekend as they play the Houston Texans on Sunday, a game many Vikings fans will likely watch.
