Broncos activate Jonathon Cooper to 53-man roster ahead of Cardinals game

The Denver Broncos have officially activated outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper to the 53-man roster ahead of Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals.

The Broncos had a roster exemption for Cooper until Monday, but the pass rusher needed to be activated by Saturday in order to play against the Cardinals on Sunday. Denver had a spot available for Cooper on the 53-man roster after placing fellow outside linebacker Jonah Elliss (ankle) on injured reserve, ruling him out for at least the next four games.

Cooper, 28, spent the first six games of the season on the commissioner's exempt list after he was arrested twice this offseason following two incidents involving his former girlfriend. Cooper is facing multiple charges, including a felony assault charge, but the NFL reinstated him after his trial was pushed back to March. The sixth-year pass rusher is now eligible to play for the Broncos while his trial looms.
