Jamie Carragher reckons Mikel Arteta should put all his eggs in one basket and focus on retaining the Premier League title.
Shortly after losing to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League final back in May, the Arsenal boss immediately outlined his 'very ambitious' plan to mount another bid for the prestigious trophy and insisted that he, his players, and the coaching staff would use the defeat to fuel their resurgence.
Earlier this month, ahead of the Gunners' clash against Lille in the league phase, Arteta doubled down, describing the result at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, Hungary, as the 'best medicine' for his side's comeback and voicing his intentions to 'play the lottery again and win' the Champions League.
Although the Spaniard boasts one of the strongest squads in the competition, Carragher has doubted whether Arsenal can go the distance again and reach the Metropolitano in Madrid, Spain, later this season.

Rather than attempt to win the Champions League for the first time in the club's history, the Liverpool legend believes Arteta should focus on defending the English top-flight title, something which the Gunners haven't done since 1934/35.
During an episode of the Fan Debate on The Overlap, Carragher drew comparisons between Arsenal and Liverpool. The Sky Sports pundit said: "I actually spoke to Arne Slot at the end of his first season [at Liverpool].
"I did an interview with him, and it was interesting that he was talking about how often we only win by one goal. It was almost that feeling of like, 'We can have better attackers,' you know, basically relying on Mo [Salah].
"Even though Liverpool won the league, he was like, 'I want more than this. I want better football than this.' Then the players came in, and for lots of different reasons, it fell apart the season after.
"It just made me think about Arsenal, but it also makes me think the next step, surely, for you is to retain the title. I don't think Arsenal have done that since the 30s.
"So, when I do watch you play, I think it'd be very difficult for you to win the Champions League. And I know you're going to say to me, 'We only lost on penalties', but last year, your run in terms of who you played was very, very favourable.
"It will be very difficult to get that run again. But is it a case of right now, forget the Champions League, we just want to win the league again?"
Next week, Slavia Praha will host Arsenal in the Champions League. Although the Gunners appear well-equipped to handle a congested fixture schedule, they're set to play Liverpool at Anfield and Hull City at the Emirates Stadium just a few days either side of the European fixture.
