Ahead of his UFC Vegas 123 main event, Renato Moicano has given an update regarding his immediate future in the sport.
This coming Saturday, the premier promotion returns to the META Apex for UFC Vegas 123, headlined by a lightweight clash between Renato Moicano and Tom Nolan.
Moicano was scheduled to fight Brian Ortega at UFC 331, but ‘T-City’ withdrew from their fight for a second time, which left the Brazilian extremely unhappy.
And ahead of just his second fight this year, ‘Money’ Moicano has given fans an update regarding his immediate future in the sport.
‘Big Train’ Nolan is on an impressive five-fight win streak, however, he hasn’t fought anyone at the level of the 37-year-old Brazilian veteran yet. Moicano has fought 20 times in the UFC already, which is almost half the amount of fights Nolan has had in professional MMA.
And ahead of his 21st UFC outing, Moicano has revealed that he has three fights left on his current deal, and he isn’t wanting to sign a new deal, unless it is for huge money. Over the past few years, ‘Money’ Moicano has grown in popularity and has done a tremendous job of marketing himself outside of the UFC.
“I don’t know (what the future holds), we will have to wait and see if I fight this, I see how I feel, I fight the next and see how I feel, with how much money I’m making in the UFC, if the money is good and worth it, then nice, let’s go, if not, I have other stuff to take care of me,” Moicano told MMAFighting. “Who knows, I’m not making any plans. I want to fight this deal out for sure, I want to do the whole thing, then let’s see what happens.
“I would like to be a free agent too, just to see what it’s like, in Brazil I’m getting popular so who knows, maybe I can make some money fighting boxing influencers or something like that, doing other stuff than MMA, I’m not too worried… Whoever pays the most money,” Moicano continued.
The 37-year-old has been a leading example over the past few years for what an up-and-coming MMA fighter should be doing outside of the sport. He currently has 406,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel, and he also live streams often on Kick.
